Head of Agriculture & Anglophone Africa Region

Oswell Kahonde is the Head of Agriculture & Anglophone Africa Region at the Better Than Cash Alliance, a United Nations-based partnership of governments, companies, and international organizations that accelerates the transition from cash to responsible digital payments to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Oswell is championing development and deployment of responsible digital payment policies, strategies and initiatives in agriculture and among member countries. He is a seasoned impact development finance expert, with over 18 years’ experience in local government finance and MSME banking & finance, designing products and innovative financial solutions for the bottom of the pyramid, holding senior and executive management roles across several African countries that includes Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Sierra Leone.

A Certified Digital Finance Practitioner, he holds an Executive MBA from the National University of Science & Technology (Zimbabwe) and a BSc Economics (Honours) from the University of Zimbabwe
